2023 RISK Award

Nominations are now open for the 2023 RISK Award which is looking for project proposals in the field of climate resilience and early warning.

The 2023 RISK Award reflects a combined approach from three major UN frameworks, namely the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030), the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change 2015. They especially invite non-profit organisations, NGOs, but also academic institutions, and local communities to apply with their non-profit projects on this topic.

The risks posed by population development, and environmental and climate change are increasing. Complex technical systems and infrastructure are additional risk factors. The RISK Award partners recognise the need to address this development. The RISK Award has been set up to help improve risk reduction and disaster management by providing financial support to projects dedicated to these issues.

Eligibility

  1. They especially invite non-profit organisations, NGOs, but also academic institutions, and local communities to apply with their non-profit projects on this topic. They appreciate people-centered and community-based approaches. Projects must include an implementation part.
  2. With the RISK Award 2023, they want to make a direct contribution to the Sendai Framework. At the same time, they support the Paris Agreement of 2015 by focusing on climatic risks. All their engagement serves to achieve the SDGs and thus the 2030 Sustainability Agenda.
