Across the world, human rights defenders are facing a rising tide of anti-human rights rhetoric and a rollback of their fundamental freedoms. Many are being intimidated, threatened, prosecuted and sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their activism.
Ahead of CIVICUS Alliance’s #IStandWitness campaign’s second anniversary in July 2022, they are inviting interested organizations and movements to host activities that will raise awareness about the plight of human rights defenders in their communities, countries or regions.
